The month of November often brings changes, albeit right before the annual traditions of Thanksgiving and other winter holidays in the United States. This journal is certainly not immune to change, so this is a good time to announce a change in course for Floramont.
When deciding to embark on a new direction, it is good to look back, as long as you don't stay stuck in that mode. Floramont has remained generally true to its mission of discussing nature and gardens, particularly relating to French (and sometimes Southern) culture in North America, whether discussing personal gardening or landscapes elsewhere. Yet, like ancestors who brave a ship voyage for a new life, it is time for Floramont to chart a new course.
Honestly, gardening is no longer an enjoyable chore, although I admire others who enjoy it. During the few times of visiting other gardens, I sense a lack of connection that was once deeply felt. As for the historical and cultural aspect of landscapes, well, I no longer enjoy that research. There are lots of reasons for all this, but the reasons do not matter. Something has shifted.
What will the future hold? Well, let's wait until details are finalized in 2025. That's not as far away as it sounds!
